Ahh today concluded a very exciting phase of my life! :D My first shot at the working world. Haha okay, so it was four days long... But it was so ultra uber exciting, and I'm very happy it happened (:
Everyone's probably heard of the Club21 Bazaar that happened over the past three days - or four if you're special. Haha it was freaking madness, there were sooooooooooooo many people and sooooooooooooooo much clothes and soooooooooooooooo much clothes and soooooooo many people. Yeah, okay you get the point.
So yep. You know how after you pick out all the things you potentially want to buy and then decide later that you don't want it so you just drop it off wherever. The people in charge of the different brands would then have to tirelessly compile the clothes in their area that weren't supposed to be there and then chuck it all into the sorting room. That was where I was in. And what I had to do was to sort out all the clothes into the right brands and then get them delivered back to where they belong.
It was insane. I am now a master at clothes-chucking, with throwing skills that can make the basketball team weep... except I'm not very good at balls... I'm good at throwing clothes. Never in ten million years have I imagined myself flinging clothes with tags over a thousand bucks. Throwing around all that Dries Van Noten and Balenciaga and Alexander McQueen was actually quite therapeutic haha. Like sometimes I try to fling a piece of garment and it doesn't land where it's supposed to and we all just say "Oooops"... Can you imagine! Throwing and dropping Jil Sander sweaters and Marc Jacobs dresses that used to cost thousands of dollars, that I used to gasp when I got to hold! Insane I know... But when there are SOOOOO much clothes like that, you cannot shower them all with love. And I was actually SO good at my job (: And it's always nice to get mm some recognition. There was one time, the person in charge wanted to put me somewhere else but the lady in my sorting room actually fought for me (: I felt so good about myself. Something that doesn't really come by for me usually. Haha I was very happy I didn't have to do something else. I probably had the best task around because I could always scurry off when I wanted to, and have my own little breaks overlooking the river, and not have to deal with customers directly.
Oh yes our sorting room had a super nice scenic view overlooking the river and the starting line of the F1 race. Once in a while you see some people posing for pictures on the markings for the starting positions... or people canoeing in the river... or canoodling by the river. And you get to watch the sunset! And that's always good.
And I made many friends (: Even with aunties who work at the warehouse tagging the clothes. They are so cute especially when the talk of the different labels. I was terribly unfriendly at first because I didn't feel like making friends... But I got over it (: and had all sorts of friends from everywhere (:
I also got stuff for myself at ABSOLUTELY amaaaaaaaaaaaaazing prices (: (: (: My favouritest is this Superfine jeans I got (YES JEANS!!) at like TEN PERCENT OF ITS ORIGINAL PRICE :D :D :D And it's so ultra uber pretty and has a nice silvery sheen :D
Yes so despite it being SO ULTRA exhaustive (like my feet and arms would die at the end of the day) and making me think that I would never want to look at clothes again, it was an amazing experience that I am so glad happened (: You know there were points in time I thought I would never want to look at clothes again. Like I thought I wouldve lost all sense of detecting colour and design by the end of it. That all I would think of when I look at clothes is the label (as in LABEL literally) and where it belongs.
Yay(: And as with every significant event I blog about, I always have the Oscar speech... There were alot of times I was so tired and so cranky and so whiny but people cheered me on so thank you all ILUxx. And to people who visited me, THANK YOU :D Bryan even brought Starbucks' Soy Latte for me when he came over (: And Suvi and my cousins came over too (: And so did Nabil, twice! Making him the best cheerleader anyone could ever have. :D :D :D Especially because I would not have to sort when he came, because I would be too busy "serving a customer". And because he listened to me complain and whine while we walked to the train station - a walk that wouldve taken him five minutes on his own, but half an hour when I was walking too. :D THANK YOU :D
Before I go though, let me mm leave you with 9 wise tips for the next time you want to brave a Club21 Bazaar!!
1. DO NOT BRING YOUR BABIES.
2. CLING onto your shopping bags. We cannot differentiate bags of things that people want or that they don't want... so we grab everything we see.
3. Bring along a friend because there are no mirrors so you'll need another pair of eyes.
4. Wear a skirt and a thin tshirt. No changing rooms so you have to mm figure it out. (It is a very unpleasant sight of seeing people STRIP - as in really strip. So even if you don't mind stripping, you do not want to scar us for life.)
5. Bring lots of cash cus the cash queue is alot faster.
6. Have a lot of time in the world and be totally zen. You only find things when you're slow and steady.
7. Do not annoy the poor staff asking for sizes and designs. This is not a store. We laugh at you later.
8. DO NOT PICK THINGS YOU DON'T WANT AND THEN CHUCK THEM ELSEWHERE. A few things are okay... but like BAGS of things... tsk. We bitch about you later.
9. Do not pretend you don't know how to read signs just so you can peep and see if there are new stuff. It's damn retarded. We bitch AND laugh about you later.
(:
xx
